How affiliate relationships affect our content
They don't. Our rankings and recommendations are based on test results -- DNS leak tests, WebRTC tests, IPv6 tests, kill switch verification, and speed benchmarks -- not on commission rates. A VPN that fails our leak tests does not appear in our recommendations regardless of its affiliate program. A VPN that passes gets a fair review regardless of whether we have an affiliate relationship with them.
We do not accept payment for reviews, guaranteed placement, or sponsored coverage. If a provider offers a higher commission, that does not change their score or ranking position.
Editorial independence
Affiliate commissions help fund the time and tools required to run independent VPN tests. Without them, this site could not operate. We believe this is a fair trade-off as long as the financial relationship is disclosed -- which is what this page is for.
If you prefer to purchase a VPN without going through an affiliate link, you can visit any provider's website directly. We have no way of knowing whether you used our link or not, and it does not affect how we cover them.
